Two people were killed in Wednesday’s crash involving a semitruck in Madera County.
Around 4pm, the collision occurred at Avenue 7 and Road 31.
According to officers, the SUV and big rig were traveling in opposite directions.
This is when the semi-truck driver carrying a load full of pomegranates lost his control.
“The big rig drifted into the shoulder for some unknown reason. Losing control. Then, the big rig drifted into the shoulder. “The passenger vehicle was hit by the back end,” stated Tatanka Mafama, CHP Officer.
Two people in the SUV were killed instantly.
Crews closed the intersection for several hours in order to clean up.
Since then, it has been reopened.
CHP does not consider drugs and alcohol to be factors.
